The unfinished Amsterdam page.
There's still a bit left to do on it;
-modes of transport stamps
-AMSTERDAM title
-dates of arrival and departure
-journaling

Recent work, post three
Recent work, post two
This is a page I did on the second day in Paris. I tried to make the least mess possible because the woman I was staying with was a nightmare when it came to cleaning.
(This is an old picture; I've recently edited the mistakes in the writing.....
"Je suis devenue" )

New page of a new journal
I was having a really bad day when I decided to make this page, but the good is that it turned it out the way I wanted it to so that made me feel a bit better.
I've not yet made my new journal, I'm not actually sure if I want to make/buy a new one or whether I should just stick this page in my TRAVEL JOURNAL to keep everything together in chronological order. The quote comes from a poem but Derek Walcott called Love After Love :
"The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life. "
The poem itself had nothing to do with how I was feeling, but those three lines really did.
STEP-BY-STEP Art Journaling (Page number 25)
Step 1: Background
You don't have to know your theme yet, or what you want to journal about, all you need is the material you want to use and creativity.

Lille Part 1 !
7th August 2013 - I started the first page of my travel journal today. I really don't like it, but I don't know what I can do to fix it.
I'm not throwing it away, that's what I always do. Nope, I'll just wait a day or two until I come up with a creative idea.
1st September 2013 - I finished it, but I don't really like it.
2nd September - I erased the boat, and darkened the writing. It still doesn't look right but I'll leave it for now.

The Last Page; End of an Era
So I have one more page left in my "Life is a ticket'" journal.
It's quite sad actually, I started it at 14, at the begining of year 10, and I've been able to document so many different feelings and events over the years.
Although a lot of things have changed over time, I can still relate to a lot of previous feelings. Which is quite depressing if you think about it.
I've been thinking about what to do this page on for a few days but now I think it's going to be on something to do with the above^.

I must say though, art journaling is the best therapy!

New page : "Freedom"
I started a new page today in one of my art journals, about freedom/ liberté. I think it's about time I vent my feelings about finally finishing college and my A Levels forever.
Watercolour
I really love using watercolours. They're so easy to use, you barely need any paint and create hardly any mess. I just love them.
The middle image is a painting a started yesterday. Obviously it's unfinished because you can't even tell what it is yet. Watercolours blend fabulously and make beautiful sky paintings.
The last is a painting a did of a seagul (but looks more like a dove) last summer. It's still one of my favourite pieces ever!

Update on my travel journal
I've been really busy lately and so I've only, in the past few weeks, got round to decorating and assembling my journal together.
It took a while, but I'm, finally, almost there:
Almost finished... "A vos marques, prêts ? Partez!"
Once it's completely decorated I can start making my Lille pages. It seems such a long time since I was in Lille (February and March) but hopefully once I get started I'll be able to write/create plenty about the memories of my time there. It was honestly the best time of my life.
I go to Paris in September so it all needs to be done by then so I can start my Paris page.
J'attends avec impatience ...
Bonne soirée !

Making the cover
I spent the whole of yesterday evening attempting to create the cover of my Travel Art journal. It took much longer than expected, but at least it's a start.
These are the first layers of paper mâché on my piece of cardboard , both on the outside and inside cover.
After a couple more layers of paper mâché I gave up with newspaper and decided that kitchen towel would give me the rough texture that I wanted. Once I'd done that, I went over it again with more newspaper so it'd be nicer to paint.
It still needs a couple more layers and then it'll be ready to decorate. I think I'm going to cover it in gesso; rid the horrible newspaper colour and then stick down pages from my old passport, stamps, maps etc... Hopefully then I can cover that in this beautiful bronze acrylic paint I bought the other week.
This is the first journal I've made from scratch so I'm really excited to see what it looks like. Fingers crossed it all turns out nicely.

Travel Journal (almost)
So, I'm in the process of putting my second art journal together. So far, I've sewn the pages together and 'found' some cardboard for the front cover. Finding the time at the moment is so difficult due to exams, but I can't wait until I finally get it finished and ready to fill in.
The centre page is where I hope to place stamps from all of the countries that I visit in the future. I currently have France and Belgium from this year.
I visited Lille in France twice this year and so have managed to collect so many journal-worthy things; I have restaurant receipts, metro tickets, cinema tickets and boarding passes. I just hope I do it justice and don't ruin my first few pages.
There's only a month and a half left of college, once my French exams are over I can concentrate solely on my art again. For now, not failing A Level French is my main priority.
